9 am Wednesday, April 14 possible drug dealing

A little south of our area, but certainly related to what goes on here:

Neighbor reports possible drug dealing on northwest corner of N. 72nd St. and Fremont at 8:55 am Wednesday, April 14. Both suspects white males about 18-20 years old. One, about 6-foot tall, wearing a blue and white vertically striped shirt and carrying a Starbucks frappacino-type drink got out of a yellow taxi southbound on Fremont and stood on the corner. Less than 30 seconds later, he was joined by the other young man, a little shorter and possibly fair-haired, on foot and each of them pulled something from their pockets and blatantly made an exchange between them of some small packets or money. The taller man then walked to the cab which, oddly, had parked down the street a half-block waiting for the man. The shorter one walked into a nearby house. The entire exchanged lasted less than 15 seconds or so.

Neighbor said he finds it hard to believe that it really was a drug deal, because it seemed so incredibly obvious (like a scene from a bad TV show), the young men were clean-cut and it was in broad daylight as other neighbors walked children or dogs nearby.

overnight Wednesday, March 10 car window smashed

Overnight and discovered Wednesday morning by owner, March 10, rear window of a van parked in the 700 block of N. 82nd St. was smashed, leaving a large gaping hole about 5-1/2 to 6 feet above street level. Van was alarmed and neighbor suspects that it was a bungled break-in attempt and that possibly alarm went off and scared intruder away. Incident was reported to police.

Man arrested after woman assaulted at Aurora Avenue motel

A man who is suspected of assaulting a woman at a motel suffered a drug overdose while he was being arrested and was taken to a Seattle hospital, police said.

At 9:14 p.m. Sunday, police responded to a motel in the 8200 block of Aurora Avenue North after several 911 callers reported a woman was being physically and sexually assaulted in a hallway. The suspect, a 49-year-old man, was hostile and combative. Police said he fought with officers as they tried to handcuff him.

Once the suspect was bought under control, he was taken outside to a patrol car. The man was driven to Harborview Medical Center because of a suspected drug overdose. Police said the man would be booked into the King County Jail once he is released from the hospital.

The victim, 28, suffered minor injuries, police said, and didn't need medical treatment.

4:30 pm Monday, Feb. 15 possible drug dealing activity

Neighbor reports likely drug dealing activity at 4:30 pm Monday, Feb. 15, at the corner of N. 81st and Dayton.

While driving neighbor saw two suspects, one early 20's female and the other late 40's male, both white, standing on the corner waiting, checking their cell phones, looking down the street. Neighbor has lived in the area long enough to feel quite certain that they were waiting for a drug dealer. Neighbor slowed down, took their photo (seen above) and told them to get out of the neighborhood. They had a lively exchange with the neighbor, but then began walking toward N. 80th. A black Nissan came by, slowed down at the scene, and took off as soon as neighbor began to take a photo of the vehicle. Neighbor called 911, the subjects returned to the neighbor's car to exchange more words, but when they realized the police were being called, they again took off to 80th. The 911 operator advised the neighbor that there was nothing they could do because nothing had been witnessed and advised neighbor to leave the area immediately.

2:30 pm, Mon., Feb. 15 possible drug activity

Neighbor reports likely drug activity Monday, Feb. 15 on N. 83rd St. between Linden and Fremont.

Four young white men, who do not live in the neighborhood, were sitting in a black/gray small SUV parked on N. 83rd St. and appeared to be getting high as they were passing small quantities of something among each other that they were all very focused on. When driver saw neighbor beginning to approach the vehicle, he immediately started the car and drove away west, turning onto Fremont. Neighbor thinks it's likely that he just parked on that block instead to continue whatever they were doing.

Neighbors report on the Phinneywood site several recent drug activity incidents:

About 3:30 am about a week ago, a neighbor who lives near 85th & Greenwood chased away several black women who were smoking crack near a new building at the east end of the Greenwood Senior Center parking lot. He followed them to make sure they left the vicinity, walking up Fremont to the park across from the Boys & Girls Club, where a group of people congregated and the crack-smokers apparently knew them. Neighbor did not have cell phone with him so wasn't able to phone police.

Another neighbor reports also about a week ago drug and prostitution activity on Fremont near 82nd and 83rd Streets. While neighbor was cleaning up a used condom from the parking strip, a car pulled up and idled, noticed neighbor watching, then drove around the corner and then parked at idle half-way down the block. A block away a guy was just standing there in the dark. Neighbor called 911 to report the activity, and in the meantime the man who was loitering got into a passing car. While waiting to see what happened with the one guy, neighbor then saw another car pull up to a car nearby that he didn't realize was also occupied. The new driver leaned into the parked car window, then returned to his car with a bag.

On or about Jan. 11, multiple suspect & criminal activities

On or about Jan. 11, a red Chevy Blazer, about 5-8 years old, dropped off someone on Linden between 84th & 85th streets who then traveled away on foot--likely end of a drug deal.

A rental house at the corner of Linden Ave. and N. 84th St. was broken into around Christmas. Apparently no one was home and no lights had been left on.

At about the same time, the new construction site at N. 85th and Linden Ave. was broken into and some of the worker's tools were stolen. Neighbor who is aware of all of the incidents reminds us to secure our property as best we can and run a couple of lights when not at home.
